Hello! My name is Erika Balla, founder of QuietFluence.
“Quiet + influence”… what’s that? Well, I actually wanted to call my business “Introvert Marketing,” but the name was already taken. Still, “Quiet Influence” reflects what I mean just as well: exercising influence that’s not flashy, not loud, not shoved down people’s throats with aggressive ads, not as trendy as YouTube influencers or TikTokers — but instead, authentic, serious and effective. A powerful tool for businesses to attract clients, gain credibility in the market, and of course, rank first on Google.
So, some years back I studied art, and it really was my dream to work in that field. But I studied advertising graphics at university, just to make sure I could actually make money with art… even if what I did wasn’t traditional “art.” I invested a lot of work and time in this. Eventually I graduated and found a job. I’ve been working in this field for 12 years now.
After about 2–3 years, though, I started to get terribly bored. That’s when I began building websites — and then one of my clients asked, “Don’t you do SEO?” My answer was a clear “yes,” although at that point I’d only read a few articles on the subject… I honestly don’t know why I said yes, I’m not usually the bluffing type.
So I set out to actually learn what I had signed up for, because I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. Luckily, for a small local business my knowledge at the time was perfect — and it was also a great opportunity for me to grow and practice. My work was unexpectedly successful; the client started recommending me to everyone. And so I began working with more local businesses. One of them fully relied on the website as their main client channel, which put a lot of pressure on me from the start — but the success followed: today they’re satisfied with their #1 position on Google, their phone rings so often with client calls that it actually annoys them. Hard to imagine that in the beginning, right?
The next milestone was an international site — thedatascientist.com. I grew its visitor count from 2k to 200k in three years, while building tons of connections. Most of the time I learned from my clients — from their questions and problems — which pushed me to research and keep learning.
After that came tesseract.academy, where I managed to turn what I’d learned at The Data Scientist into success within just 2–3 months. That was a milestone for me. It’s amazing how, once you’ve got real hands-on experience, everything starts moving so much faster.
Right now, I’m learning the processes of business automation. I like that Krishna-like image with all the arms — shame we’re not built like that ourselves… imagine having that many arms and brains, business would be a breeze! But that’s where AI comes in. Maybe it’s not such a scary thing after all — it actually frees up our time so we can focus on more important things beyond business. I’ll write more about this on the blog soon. recommending me to everyone. And so I began working with more local businesses. I hope I haven’t bored you, and that I haven’t been too detailed — because, honestly, that’s what I’m good at: planning and details. Oh yes, that’s the foundation of everything I do. If all this sounds interesting, see you on the blog!
